The cam support plate in a Twin Cam® engine is the manifold system used to distribute all oil flow to critical areas of the engine via oil pressure bypass valve and pressure chamber.
Many older O.E. plates may have internal leaks due to porosity in the pressure chamber. When this is present the results are less oil volume and reduced pressure needed to provide enough oil volume/film on high pressure engine parts trying to weld themselves together.
Each cam plate is finished with a final process of blueprinting the pressure chamber to assure its fully machined and tested for proper sealing, blow off and reset pressures the maximum oil flow possible to all critical engine parts.
