Zipper’s strong ties to the racing community have given us experience with many special processes which increase the durability of high stress severe duty use engine. Thermal coating is one process we have used for decades for select engine customers.

If you are racing or operating engines in server duty environments (climates) thermal coatings pistons is a proven process to protect pistons from the severe heat exposure of an air-cooled engine.  Thermal coating is widely used in NASCAR®, NHRA and many other forms of competition. The results for an air cooled H-D® engine are outstanding.

Thermal coating can be added when you order cylinder-piston kits or engine kits. Keep in mind, thermal coatings can add up to an additional 3-4 weeks processing time for thermal coating services to be completed.
